Not just a baby massage class

I’ve been wanting to express how I teach my classes, although I call them ‘baby massage’ there really is a whole lot more to it than that!

Within the classes I guide you in the massaging strokes but I also encourage you in YOUR parenting skills and journey. It’s tough being a new parent, so I want to be the listening ear, the place to come to and the comfort for you to enjoy whilst being at my classes. I have a wealth of knowledge from my nannying career, and now being a mum, I have some tips to share along the way. Plus, plenty to listen and learn from you! I am by no means an expert, I’m just an everyday mumma trying my best.

In the classes we discuss various areas of children’s development, and share ideas as to how you may help them as an individual. I love to start conversations about how everyday items are more appealing than toys – ever noticed a baby choose your keys or a box over a plastic singing and dancing toy?!

Each class I am led by the parents and babies, if we have less massage and more chatting then I’ll pop the kettle back on, if we have a whole class of massage, we tend to chat along the way. We will go over and over the strokes until you are happy and confident with them. Babies are very aware of the atmosphere around, so they are tuning into everything we speak about and beginning to understand language.

Having some self-care time is so important to me, I hope that coming to my classes you are inspired to take time out for yourself, each week we will discuss what you could do in the week, and how taking just a little time for yourself will set you up for the week ahead! I like to start my classes by slowing down, taking a deep breath and setting small intentions for the class ahead.

I will always provide a cuppa and homemade baked goods to enjoy.

When massaging we always use cold pressed vegetable oil on the baby’s delicate skin. You will receive a bottle to use in class and at home, along with a parent’s handout.

After the 6 week course is finished if you have enjoyed coming to the classes you can retake the course or join me on my post massage course which is open to anyone who has come to my classes before, it’s a place to connect back to your baby, no matter what age. Lots of fun and alternative ways to connect to our older babies whilst using the positive touch we have learnt.

And of course, some time for the parents to enjoy a chat, a supportive listening ear.

My classes aren’t ‘just’ a massage class they are a time out in the week, a safe place to discuss your worries, an encouraging place to celebrate your wins and most of all somewhere to connect back to yourself and your baby.

I absolutely love massaging MY baby! In class I demonstrate with a doll, you massage your baby!

Please come and join me, I look forward to supporting you along the way.

" My daughter and I have been lucky enough to enjoy a 6 week massage course and an introduction to doTerra oils class with Sophie and loved every minute. Sophie is a knowledgable teacher with impeccable patience, it’s also so nice to be able to learn in a homely environment. Thank you!"
